Massive Sales of Tablet PCs Predicted in 2010
The growing popularity of mobile computing has made smaller and lighter devices like netbooks and smartphones immensely popular among modern-day consumers. However, one device that will be lapped up by consumers in 2010 is the tablet PC, believe experts.
A tablet PC is a computer that is shaped in the form of a slate or tablet. It comprises of only the computer screen, as it neither has a keyboard nor a mouse. It operates on the touch screen technique and in terms of size, it is somewhere between netbooks and smartphones. As it is ultra-slim and light in weight, it can be carried anywhere without much difficulty.
According to analysts at Deloitte, tablet PCs will sell like hot cakes in 2010, with the total sales figure rising to millions. 2010 will be the year of the tablet PC, and Apple’s iSlate tablet PC will be in demand the most. This PC will be launched in the market this month. It is estimated that sales of this PC will reach the ten million mark every year.
Microsoft was a pioneer in developing the tablet PC. The first tablet PC was unveiled by Microsoft in 2001. Consumers were thus acquainted with this device about nine years back. However, this PC was not as technologically superior as its successors are. It had no connectivity, was less sophisticated, and its graphics and software were not as advanced and updated as those found in modern tablet PCs.
