Retired Surgeon Joel Roskind MD to Consult on Business of Medicine
Plastic surgeon Joel Roskind, who ran a large, successful clinic on Long Island before moving to Miami to consult, has returned to the New York area to lecture, advise and pursue a personal interest in Judaic spirituality. Joel Roskind, also returns to Boston University Medical School, where he has instructed previously, to teach a case management course called Integrated Problems.
Joel Roskind approaches medicine from a multidisciplinary and humanitarian perspective. Dr. Joel Roskind also served in the U. S. Navy as part of a three-man plastic surgery team, and during that time he traveled to Mexico to do surgery on underprivileged children with cleft lips and palates.
As a practicing surgeon, Dr. Joel Roskind witnessed firsthand changes in the healthcare sector leading to an progressive number of functions being performed outside the traditional hospital environment. Always patient oriented, Roskind MD’s worries about the safety of outpatient and ambulatory surgery facilities extended to a long association with the AAAASF, including over 20 years of service as a facilities inspector. He is well positioned to serve operators of such facilities meet the highest quality standards needed by insurers today.
And, Dr. Joel Roskind is an experienced teacher. He has previously instructed at Boston University, as well as the Nassau University Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, Cornell Medical School and the University of California, San Diego. He is also the former Voluntary Clinical Assistant Professor or Surgery at the University Of Miami School Of Medicine.
Fulfilling the trust that patients put in their physicians has always been a top priority for Dr. Joel Roskind. He feels that he can continue to contribute to best practices and patient safety in a broader and more comprehensive way through his work as a teacher and consultant. When he is not lecturing or consulting, Dr. Joel Roskind plans to pursue a personal interest in Judaic studies.
