Fantasy Football - England Are World Cup Winners
England could have failed to win in the actual 2010 South African World Cup, but they won the World Cup in a virtual tournament hosted by Football Superstars, this was a massively multi-player game (MMO). At least England football fans still get something to take pride in.
England are the World Cup winners for the virtual Football Superstars epic event; this is an MMO (massively multi-player online game) that relives the World Cup, but as a video game. Unlike the real England team that experienced defeat at the hands of Germany in South Africa, the virtual England team went all the way. The virtual game England played against rival Germany occurred during the group stages, and this time around England managed to hold off the Germans for a 1-1 draw. Germany then progressed to not even make it out of the group stages, due to a 2-1 loss against the Ukrainian team, something not likely to be mirrored in a real life soccer games. England went against Lithuania in the Quarter Finals and destroyed them easily with a 9-1 win, a score you would be unlikely to see in a real World Cup game. This cleared the road for England to play Portugal in the Semi Finals. This game saw some fantastic midfield play with England wishing to create some chances on goal, although both teams played well England once again managed to pull out the win, beating Portugal 4-1 and ending their World Cup bid. The Final saw England face off against Russia - with both teams fighting for the Cup, fortune was on England’s side as they managed to get a fantastic head start with a goal within the first minute. Russia immediately pulled even unfortunately, when the England keeper weaved out of his box for a clearance that he managed to mess up, letting Russia intercept and score a goal while the Keeper was still out of position. Luckily, England soon compensated for the error when they managed to score a similar goal at the opposite end, when a clearance by the Russian keeper was similarly intercepted and ended in the back of the net. Russia put up a valiant fight but England managed to score a few more goals and it seemed the beaten Russian team was just simply unable to muster the energy or create the opportunities to pull the score even. Finally, after a grueling game, the final whistle blew, and for the first time, England turned into the World Cup Winners for the Football Superstars MMO fantasy football games. CyberSports Community Manager Andrew Ruddick communicated his views on the tournament, declaring it the biggest event ever hosted by Football Superstars. He acknowledged every single team who took part, proclaiming the level of organization and dedication throughout was amazing, making for some incredibly competitive games. He stopped things by thanking everybody who participated in the event and congratulated the England team for the fantastic level of play they had shown throughout the tournament. There will be additional World Cup tournaments later in the year.
For the past ten years or so, Antonius Meyer has been a lead commentator on England world cup winners and given his original outlook on the games.
